update 5/10/21: Beegie is making marvelous improvement! She's out of critical care. She is NOT home as some have suggested, but every day we are one step closer. (Let this be my gentle reminder to all that if you don't hear it from me, it probably isn't accurate.)

Beegie and I have spent a great deal of time thinking about the level of compassion and care everyone has given both of us over the past 26 days (and counting). No one plans on being in the ICU waiting room, let alone move in for days/weeks at a time. So many families have to travel from far away to be with loved ones and can’t get home to shower, grab food, etc. As many of you might know, the costs and resources needed add up. We’re lucky. We haven't needed anything though I’m forever grateful for the kindness so many of my friends have shown me. So many others aren't so lucky, so if you have access to pre-packaged, non-perishable snacks or toiletries for families in an ICU near you, please consider donating. You can contact the hospital to make those arrangements. Thank you!

I’m SO proud of Beegie. We continue to welcome whatever you can give (love, prayer, energy, etc) to continue to help her get stronger and healthier. I’m very grateful for all of you.

Thank you. -Monica

PS - Here's a cute photo of my babies, Lena and Alvie. When my anxiety tries to take over, their cute photos calm me and make my heart swell. I thought they might make you smile, too.

Update: Beegie still remains critical but stable. She’s fighting and wants to go home. So, every day, I wake up from my little sofa bed in her room with the goal and purpose to provide whatever care and support I can to her and to her team to get home.

I wanted to share something extraordinarily valuable I’ve learned over the past 3 weeks that I hope everyone will consider for themselves. Having an advocate by your loved one’s side in the hospital is vital, especially when the patient cannot speak or has to be sedated. Being able to stay with Beegie throughout this process has been very helpful to her team and I’ve learned how I can help and when to step back and let them do what they so very well. I ask questions, have learned how to read all of the machines in the room, what labs their watching, etc. What I personally think is most important is that I watch and interpret her words and body language in ways they wouldn’t be able to. I can talk with her about “inside” things and evaluate how she responds in a way they probably couldn’t. Sometimes the things I can share with them seem so minor or even irrelevant, but I do it anyway. I’d rather give them too much info than regret not sharing more.

I start each 12 hour shift by telling her nurse and anyone else new to her team everything I think they need to know about Beegie. I share what type of person she is at home, her hobbies, her music and her trio, her cats and I’ve shared what concert dates we have confirmed later this year, including Carnegie Hall on October 2nd (that usually lifts brows!). Most importantly, I ask all of them to visit her website. I want them to see, hear and know the woman who came into the ICU and the woman fighting so hard to get home and all of the things she is fighting so hard to be able to have and to do.

I play Beegie’s favorite music off and on throughout the day for her. Just a while ago, her nurse found her music on youtube and asked if she could just keep it playing throughout the day for all of us to hear. How wonderful is that? A huge, effective win for everyone. EVERYONE deserves an advocate and I hope that reading this helps you define who, in your life, can best advocate for you should you ever need the support.

Lastly, I have, by no means, done this alone. With strict visitation and phone limitations, we had to get creative with ways to connect Beegie with the people most important to her. I’ve called in more favors than I’ll ever be able to repay. I’m beyond grateful for the help, love and support from some of the greatest friends and people on this earth. I love you all so much.

Let’s all keep fighting and running the marathon for Beegie. And, please take a few minutes to identify the advocates in your life.

Now, I’m going to hit send and go back to listening to the Beegie Adair Trio play “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”…… 👑🐝❤️🌁

Update: Beegie had a great day yesterday and so far today! Still critical but making strong progress. She's our prize fighter!

Her team is remarkable and they care very much about her. It is evident based on the number of nurses and doctors who continue to come and check on both of us, even when they are no longer assigned to her. I’m grateful.

I've had several ask where to send things. Here's the address: Adair Music Group, LLC PO Box 901 Franklin, TN 37065. Please note that I'm only checking this box about once a week. Thank you for your understanding and thoughtfulness.

A little while ago, our good friend Clifton Davis wrapped up an interview with Christian McBride on his show "The Lowdown" on SiriusXM. They talk about many things, including his latest album with the #BeegieAdairTrio. Listeners have two weeks to tune in to the broadcast and we hope you will (see below). Both Clifton and Christian are marvelous humans and musicians.

Most importantly, THANK YOU for the continued abundance of love and concern for Sweet Beegie. Keep lifting her up. IT IS WORKING! I'm forever thankful that she has the BEST FANS in jazz. -Monica

A quick update on Beegie. She is hanging in there! She has been through a lot over the past several days and she’s got a hard road ahead of her, but she’s fighting just as I knew she would! I have been sharing your messages and videos with her and I’m forever thankful for everyone’s kindness and understanding. I’ll do my best to send updates when I can.
Beegie loves books, flowers and animals more than just about anyone I know and she’d love this #NewYorker cartoon. She'd cut it out and hang it on her fridge. I thought I'd share it on her behalf for #FunnyFriday.
Please, stay strong for her and keep sending up loads of love and hope. And keep sending messages. I believe it is working. - Monica 👑🐝

I am writing to share that Beegie has been hospitalized as a result of a treatment she received last week. Right now, what she needs is to hear from the people she loves and who love her. Please shoot a positive, uplifting video or email to beegiefans@beegieadair.com. You will not receive a response, fyi. She is not allowed visitors or accepting calls, but I am with her and will share your messages when appropriate.
In addition to hearing your words of encouragement, please help me preserve and honor her privacy during this critical time. Official updates will be given here, directly from me, as I am able. The most important thing is for me to be the best advocate that I can for Beegie. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and understanding.
Beegie Adair is a fighter and her humor is intact. Thank you for being in her corner and mine.
Send up hope and love, please. 👑🐝❤️ -Monica
